What is Fiqh in Islam?

Fiqh linguistically means "deep understanding". In Sharia, it means understanding practical Islamic rulings from detailed evidences - like how to pray, fast, pay Zakat, halal food, marriage. It answers: Is this wajib, sunnah, mubah, makruh, or haram?

Why Fiqh is Important?

Prophet ﷺ said: "When Allah wishes good for someone, He gives him understanding (fiqh) of the religion" [Bukhari & Muslim]. Without Fiqh, your Salah might be invalid, your Zakat wrong, your fasting broken. Fiqh protects your worship from mistakes.

2 Main Types of Fiqh

1. Fiqh al-Ibadat (Worship)
