What Is Juz Amma?

Juz Amma is the 30th and final Juz of the Holy Quran. It contains the Surahs from Surah An-Naba (78) through Surah An-Nas (114) . Many of its Surahs are relatively short, which makes Juz Amma a practical starting point for students who are beginning their Quran memorization journey.

However, memorization is not only about learning new Surahs. Regular revision, correct pronunciation, Tajweed, and consistent practice are essential for building strong and lasting memorization.

The 12-Month Juz Amma Memorization Plan

The following plan is designed to help students memorize Juz Amma gradually over one year. The Surahs are arranged in their correct Quranic order, beginning with Surah An-Naba and ending with Surah An-Nas.

Important Note: The exact amount of memorization can be adjusted according to the student's age, reading ability, previous memorization, Tajweed level, and available study time. The goal is not simply to finish quickly, but to memorize correctly and retain what has been learned.

How the Weekly Plan Works

A successful Quran memorization program should include more than learning new verses. A typical week can include four important steps:

1. New Memorization

The student learns a small and manageable portion of the assigned Surah. The amount may vary according to the student's ability. A smaller portion memorized correctly is better than a large portion that is quickly forgotten.

2. Recitation and Correction

During the live Quran lesson, the student recites the new memorization to the teacher. The teacher helps correct pronunciation, Tajweed mistakes, verse endings, reading fluency, and memorization mistakes.

3. Previous Revision

Previously memorized Surahs should be reviewed regularly. Revision is one of the most important parts of Quran memorization because it helps students maintain what they have already learned.

4. Weekly Assessment

At the end of each week, the teacher checks the student's memorization. The teacher can then decide whether the student is ready to move forward or whether additional revision is needed.

Why Revision Is So Important

A student may successfully memorize a Surah but gradually forget it without regular revision. For this reason, a one-year Juz Amma program should include revision throughout the entire year.

  • Review new memorization regularly
  • Practice older Surahs
  • Recite complete Surahs without looking at the Mushaf
  • Repeat difficult verses and passages
  • Correct recurring pronunciation and Tajweed mistakes

The Final Two Months

The final two months focus mainly on strengthening and reviewing the memorized Juz Amma. Students can review all memorized Surahs, practice reciting them in the correct order, improve fluency, and prepare for the final assessment.

Certificate of Completion

After successfully completing the one-year Juz Amma memorization program and passing the final assessment, the student can receive a Certificate of Completion from Al Shimaa Quran Academy in recognition of their achievement.

Tips for Successfully Memorizing Juz Amma

Be Consistent

Studying a small amount every day is often more effective than memorizing a large amount only once or twice a week.

Listen to the Surah Regularly

Listening to the same Surah repeatedly can help students become familiar with the verses and their pronunciation.

Read Before Memorizing

Students should read the assigned verses carefully and make sure they are comfortable with the pronunciation before beginning memorization.

Review Before Learning Something New

Reviewing previous memorization helps protect what has already been learned.

Be Patient

Every student learns at a different pace. Progress should be measured by improvement and consistency rather than comparison with other students.

Can Children Memorize Juz Amma in One Year?

Yes. Children can work toward memorizing Juz Amma within one year when they have an appropriate learning schedule and regular support. However, the pace should always be adjusted according to the child's age, reading level, concentration, and available time.

For younger children, shorter memorization sessions with frequent revision may be more effective than long lessons. Parents can support their children by encouraging regular revision and maintaining a positive learning routine.
